Health Benefit Of Moringa Leaves And Moringa Seeds

Moringa is called the Miracle Tree for good reason. Moringa leaves, pods, flowers, fruits, roots, bark, and Moringa seeds can all be utilized. It is estimated that at least 300 diseases can be cured by taking this supplement along with hundreds of other health benefits thanks to its more than 90 nutrients, 46 different antioxidants, and all 8 essential amino acids. Here is a more in-depth look at the health benefits of Moringa leaves and seeds.

Moringa is rich in many vitamins, including Vitamin A, several forms of Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Vitamin E. In fact, it has more of these vitamins than a variety of foods that all claim to be excellent sources of them, such as carrots, oranges and milk. These vitamins provide a number of recognized health benefits.

Moringa leaves have a few specific benefits that must be touched on as well. Protein is a vital nutrient found in the leaves of this tree. There is twice as much calcium in Moringa leaves than in milk. Iron is found in large quantities in Moringa leaves as well. In fact, there is three times as much iron in this plant than in spinach. Along with these specific nutrients, the leaves can be consumed to stimulate your metabolism, thus aiding in weight loss. This is possible because Moringa provides energy without sugar. The leaves can also be used to beautify your skin, thus they are commonly taken as supplement by women looking for healthier skin.

Moringa seeds have a number of benefits specific to them as well. They contain iron, just like Moringa leaves, and they also contain amino acids along with anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. That means if you have minor injuries like bruises, cuts or burns, you will heal faster when you take Moringa supplements. Along with these specific health benefits, you can even put its seeds in dirty water and they will attract the impurities and make the water drinkable. They are often manufactured in perfumes and aromatherapy products because of the refreshing aroma they provide.

All of the amazing health benefits of Moringa leaves and seeds make them a regular in the diets of people who live where they grow in Asia, Africa and South America. As far as science is concerned, Moringa is a new find. As far as herbalists are concerned, this plant has been benefiting them for generations.

Importance Of Health And Safety Management

Health and safety management is necessary in companies. Effective health policies and relevant training would decrease the losses suffered by companies due to occupational accidents and illnesses.

Health and safety management deals with the management of the safety of workers in the workplace. A safe and healthy work environment is the goal of occupational safety policies. Most countries including the United Kingdom have laws regarding health and safety management policies in companies. Companies are liable to legal litigation if they fail to ensure the safety of their workers.

There is a reason why countries give so much importance to health and safety management. Every year a number of people (200 in UK and 4340 in US) die due to health risks in the work place. Besides that, due to injury and ill health resulting from occupational hazards, millions of working days are lost each year and consequently the industry suffers losses in billions. Add to this the costs to companies caused by workers' litigation and other legal payments and businesses stand to lose quite a lot. If adequate importance is given to occupational safety, these costs could be cut down by a good percentage.

Due to the cost and legal factor, most companies insist on their employees undergoing health and safety training from health management companies who specialize in these kinds of training (this is also a legal requirement for companies in most states and countries). Many different training courses are conducted such as courses in first aid, working at a height, fire safety, fire warden training, manual handling etc. Depending on the industry and the work, the training courses needed would vary. For example, if your workers work in an asbestos rich environment then asbestos awareness training is needed. Similarly people in the waste management industry would require another type of health and safety training and so on.

Training given by health and safety management companies would improve your employees' confidence and decrease the incidence of workplace casualties and fatalities and loss of working days due to occupational illnesses. Companies would also have to face fewer workers' litigations. Costs due to lack of insurance and loss of goodwill also go down.

An important fact to be considered while setting up health and safety management policies is that your company's policies should be fully integrated into the employee consciousness. They should be in a positive frame of mind regarding training and safety plan. This means that, from the directors down everybody should positively contribute to the plan. The higher management should actively participate in the policies and should encourage their people to follow their lead.

Health Insurance Vs Health Plans

There are four common reasons why most people do not have health insurance or health plans. These four reasons are: (1) You are self employed. (2) You are unemployed. (3) Your current job does not offer coverage. (4) You have been released from your parents' coverage. Whatever the reason may be, it is important for you to get covered.

While doing some research on healthcare, you may come across two different types of medical coverage. The first is "health insurance" which includes HMO's, PPO's, and traditional coverage. You may also come across something called discount "health plans". These healthcare types are a little different from one another and you should understand what they are all about before making a final decision on what kind of coverage you choose.

Health Insurance

When choosing a health insurance plan you are going to need to choose between three different sub categories: PPO's, HMO's, and Indemnity Plans. There is not much difference between a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) and an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization). They are both options that your keep your premium costs down by only allowing you to see doctors or visit specialists that are members of their provider network. For example, when you see a member doctor, the doctor charges full price for the visit. You pay a co-pay amount of $5-$25 - depending on your policy, and the insurance company is billed for the rest. You must visit a doctor in the network or the insurance company may not pay their share of your visit.

Indemnity Plans are a little different. Also called "traditional insurance", they allow you to choose whatever doctor, hospital, or specialist you want, and your visit is covered. You pay your co-pay amount and your insurer will pay the rest. These plans may or may not be more expensive, so it is important for you to compare quotes between indemnity plans and PPO/HMO plans.

Discount Health Plans

These are great alternatives to PPO's, HMO's, and traditional insurance, and are becoming increasingly more popular. These plans offer discounts on doctor visits, emergency care, and prescriptions with participating providers in their network, and membership comes with affordable monthly payments. They offer financial relief in your time of need by preventing you from having to pay for 100% of your medical expenses on your own. For example if you have a 50% discount plan, get sick, and see a participating doctor that normally charges $70 for an office visit, being a discount plan member means you will only have to pay $35 for that visit. Many discount plans are offered by major medical insurance companies and were created for people on a budget.

So if you are debating on health insurance vs. health plans, just know that either way having some coverage is better than having no coverage at all. Pick a plan that allows you to stay healthy without breaking the bank. Staying healthy should be the number one priority.

Aluminum Health Risks - Real Or Myth?

For years we have been warned about the risk of aluminum in deodorants. A recent study reported by WebMD Health News indicates there may even be a link of aluminum in deodorant and other personal care products to breast cancer.

Dr. Philippa Darbre of the University of Reading in England has found evidence that aluminum-based active ingredients in deodorants can mimic estrogen in the body.

She goes on to state, "If the aluminum salts in antiperspirants enter the body and mimic estrogen, it stands to reason that constant exposure over many years may pose a risk."

Most commercial antiperspirants contain aluminum. For years the discussions about risk of aluminum centered around Alzheimer's. This degenerative form of dementia mostly affects persons over 65 years of age.

Some studies have found there are higher than normal concentrations of aluminum in the Alzheimer's brain cells. Other studies have either not been able to conclude this or are still questioning the results. However, it is known that large amounts of aluminum can contribute to nerve toxicity and therefore possibly Alzheimer's disease.

The question becomes, can small amounts over time cause harm or is the danger only with one large exposure?

It is easy to see how we can accumulate aluminum in our bodies, since deodorant isn't the only product that contains it. It is also found in many other sources including antacids, aluminum tubes used with some brands of toothpaste, baking powder, nondairy creamers, table salt, drinking water, and processed cheese. Aluminum cookware, of course, is also a consideration.

It makes sense that small exposures on a daily bases could result in accumulation in tissues over many years, just as Dr. Darbre reports.

Our bodies do not require aluminum. We also know what we rub on our skin, we do absorb into the body and bloodstream.

Although there are no studies to this date that conclusively point to aluminum as a major cause for breast cancer and Alzheimer's, the results are not all in yet.

If you are not a gambling person, you may want to choose your personal care products very carefully to avoid aluminum. Remember, cigarettes used to not be considered unhealthy. Today, we know better.

Pros, Cons, And Misconceptions About The National Health Care Bill

This week turned out to be a very tough week for Congress, as well as many Americans. The health care debate seemed to have escalated from Coast to Coast. On Capitol Hill for instance a Swastika drawn with some cheap spray paint was painted on Congressman David Scott's suite site.

The goal now in Washington is to clear up any and all misconceptions regarding this matter. With that, the pros and cons of medical coverage are being currently discussed, and reported about.

National Health Care Pros

Nationalization of health care would provide everyone with some level of assistance. This will, for one, help them to afford a doctor and they would be able to obtain physicals, afford prescriptions, etc. They would have access to services they otherwise would not be able to afford.

Patients receiving medical coverage also receive additional help in the event of a problematic injury or illness. It would also assist people who have a very low income but yet work hard to acquire the help they require.

For instance, perhaps right now they are stressing out about not being able to afford prescription drugs or frustrated that they cannot afford to pay a dentist to operate on their teeth. It would provide relief to families fighting to make ends meet. People would also be protected in the event of an accident.

People who do not have children would also for the first time be awarded health care. It would also be beneficial to single people who right now are uninsured just because they do not have children. In any case, many Americans see nationwide policies as reasons not to want to see everyone receive services.

National Health Care Cons

Oftentimes offered medical policies raise new issues. For example, it in the long run could make it tougher for people to find high quality services. Furthermore, making a federal issue out of health care also strips the power away from state and local governments.

They will be required to obey orders passed down from Washington regarding this issue whether they like it or not. Oftentimes various rules and regulations are imposed on people who are granted national health care. For example, they may no longer be able to freely choose a doctor or other practitioner.

In extreme cases, people will be informed that if they do not go to the doctor that is listed on their health plan then they would go to jail. Doctors could also in this exaggerated instance be affected, and could perhaps face jail time if they do not abide by the rules set in place. So what happens if the person is out of the state or country?? What if they are traveling?

Another major factor that works against nationalization of any government program is privacy. Once again you probably will have to account to the government who seems to record your every move already as it is. (I.E. you might have to report when you are traveling in the event you may need absentee health services.)

The cases against nationalizing health care are not necessarily based on reality, but could be. The likelihood that medical provision could have a negative effect on American is based on the exact nature of a specific bill that would be passed as law.

The most critical case against this type of government-sponsored help is in all likelihood how it could have a detrimental effect on our life politically-that America might give the government one more bit of themselves that they will never be able to get back. No matter what, American citizens are advised to keep watch.

Misconceptions and Concerns Many people were scared in our country this week, and probably rightfully so. People both for and against the nationalization of health care spoke up and expressed their concerns, but of course this is a very personal matter.

The most personal issue of all that was brought up this week was that pertaining senior citizens. The fear was that the American people would be required to "pull the plug on Grandma" as one news source said. Another news source had mentioned, however, that this was false.

There would be this option but that seniors would not be required to use this service. This of course still seems to make many American people nervous. Therefore, they are continuing to speak up about this issue any chance they can get.

Health - Carbonated Drinks Can Damage Our Health

Last week I wrote a health article on how chemicals we use everyday around our homes and offices can be detrimental to our health, and very damaging to unborn and young children.

This week there has been even more worrying health information given about the additive E211 in soft drinks, especially at this time of the year when some children drink vast quantities. Parents have been warned that they should limit the consumption of their children's soft drinks due to health fears over the safety of a commonly used preservative E211, as laboratory tests have shown that it can switch off vital parts of DNA, causing serious damage to cells. Concern is also given to the fact that tests suggest this could also result in other degenerative diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver and Parkinson's disease.

E211 is found in many soft drinks including Fanta and Pepsi Max and many other brands of highly consumed carbonated drinks. Peter Piper, a molecular biologist expert carried out the research into sodium benzoate or E211 at Sheffield University, where he found that it could damage the mitochrondia, an important area in DNA. However the Food Standards Agency and drink manufacturers insist that rigorous assessments are made before the approval and use of any of their additives, and it is deemed safe to health in the UK, EU and US for food use. The FSA says that consumers can continue to enjoy soft drinks knowing they are safe.

However, Peter Piper said that "these chemicals have the ability to cause severe damage to DNA in the mitochrondia to the point that they totally inactivate it, they knock it out altogether". The mitochrondia consumes oxygen which gives you energy, if this becomes damaged the cell starts to malfunction seriously. With this there is a whole range of diseases effecting your health now being linked - through damage to DNA, Parkinson's foremost, but also several other neuro-degenerative diseases and of course the whole general health process of ageing.

Sodium benzoate is regularly used to kill bacteria, yeast and fungi in soft drinks, fruit juices, jams and spreads, and salad dressings, as well as many other products. But it is in the soft drinks, which are consumed in higher quantities, and been used for decades by the carbonated drinks industry that is causing concern. Peter piper acknowledges the fact that sodium benzoate had passed the UK, European Union and US food safety tests, but claims that these tests were too old to be reliable, and that by the criteria of modern safety testing are inadequate for our health

Safety testing in other areas has moved forward in the past 50 years with new research, and so rigorous new tests should be conducted on E211 and other additives. Sodium benzoate is found naturally in some fruit such as apples, cranberries, prunes, greengages and also cinnamon and cloves and as you know these are good for your health. When sodium benzoate is mixed with vitamin C it forms a carcinogenic substance called benzene.

I believe that we should not stop drinking carbonated drinks altogether, but the consumption should be limited, and maybe production of carbonated drinks with a shorter shelf life, needing less additives would be a good step for manufacturers to take. This would probably bring the price of carbonated drinks more into line with healthier alternatives available, as at the moment they are the cheapest option in most supermarkets.

Hope you find this interesting, as I do not believe any of us are aware just how many different chemicals we consume regularly and the effect they have on our health, especially children.

Health Benefits Of Beans And Lentils

Lentils and beans are two commonly ignored foods that have a lot of health benefits. They're beneficial for people who have or are in danger of developing diabetes. They also provide anti-aging benefits, are heart-healthy, and can be cooked in a lot of different ways. If you're wondering what you should eat to have a healthy diet, the answer surprisingly enough, is beans.

Most varieties of beans and lentils are very low in fat. Soybeans are the only exception. People who are watching their weight may wish to pay attention to their intake of this type of bean, but can eat others without worry. Beans and other legumes also offer complex carbohydrates, which we need to power our bodies, and plenty of dietary fiber - around fifteen grams per cup, which is half the 25 grams we should eat every day. They also contain essential fatty acids (omega-6s, and in the case of soybeans, omega-3s). Combine beans or lentils with grains like barley, oats, and rice, and complete proteins are formed, making them a good source of this vital nutrient for people who should avoid meat or choose not to eat it.

If you're in danger of developing diabetes or already suffer from the condition, you'll be happy to hear that beans and lentils have a low glycemic index. This means that they won't cause blood sugar levels to spike the way refined grain products can. Since the nutrients in lentils and beans are released into the body slowly, they prevent us from feeling hungry over a longer period than many other foods, while providing energy to keep us going.

No matter what your favorite cuisine might be, beans and lentils can be prepared in a way that suits you. They're found in American, Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern, and many other cultures as a major source of food. Japanese people eat soybeans in their processed form as tofu and miso, and lightly cooked as edamame. You can use these versatile foods in soups, salads, and even spreads and dips. Some people even sprout them and use them as an extra ingredient in breads, a practice that has been going on for thousands of years.

Beans, in addition to their fiber content, are also good for your heart. They contain potassium, which can reduce the risk of strokes and high blood pressure. Most adult Americans don't get enough potassium. Adding beans to your diet can help improve your potassium intake. Beans also provide folic acid, which breaks down an amino acid known to contribute to heart disease. People who eat beans four times a week or more have a twenty percent reduction of their risk of developing heart disease, independent of other healthy habits. Lentils and beans also help reduce blood cholesterol and contain anti-oxidants also found in red wine, tea, and other foods.

Social Health

Social health, along with mental and physical health, is one of the key aspects to determine the general well-being of a person. The importance of social health has not been a big focus when people talk about health. However, experts say that the social well-being of an individual is just as important. Social health refers to the ability of an individual to thrive in the society and interact with other people, a form of mental health. This incorporates different elements of a person's character, personality and social skills. A healthy person should be able to function in society and reflect social norms. Social health could also refer to the general health of society, taking into consideration how people behave and treat one another. A healthy society is also a requirement for a person to function socially. The existence of governing law, wealth distribution, levels of social capital, and the public's access to decision-making processes are some of the indicators of a healthy society.

According to studies and research, social interactions play an important role in improving mental and physical health. It is not enough that a person exercises every day, eats a balance diet and goes to some spa to relax. A healthy individual also socialize with the people around him and forms different kinds of relationships. A healthy person is able to keep friendship, intimacy or other personal relationships. A bond between a person and the people around them provides a positive attitude towards life and makes it easier for to cope with stress. That's why a healthy person knows how to call their friends and ask for some advice in times of need. Popular studies also show that a person overcomes illness better when surrounded by a support group of families and friends. Isolation on the other hand can lead to mental illness. A person, who is already suffering from depression, needs people to understand what they are going through and help them recover. Being alone only aggravates the condition.

These are only a few reasons why social health have been receiving more and more recognition as a vital determinant of one's general health. Health includes healthy social relationships for complete mental health.

Health Benefits Of Vitamin B Complex

There are eight B vitamins in vitamin B complex as well as several related substances. The eight vitamins are thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pyridoxine (B6), cobalamine (B12), folic acid, pantothenic acid and biotin. The other related substances include choline, inositol and para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA).

Although each individual vitamin or related substance performs a different function in the body, they all work together to maintain good health and vitality. A well balanced diet should provide us with all the B vitamins we require, but because they are water soluble and therefore not retained by the body, we need a daily dietary source.

The majority of multivitamin and mineral supplements contain B-complex vitamins as well as other essential vitamins and minerals. Since multivitamin/mineral supplements are more complete than B-complex vitamins by themselves, multivitamin-mineral supplements are usually recommended to prevent deficiencies over individual vitamin supplements.

The Vitamin B Complex is essential for correct RNA and DNA synthesis and cell reproduction. As our Skin, Hair and Nails are constantly growing and renewing themselves we need the following B vitamins to ensure the good health of these structures - Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B9, Vitamin B12, Biotin and Choline. Deficiencies of any of these B Vitamins can lead to dry, grey skin, dermatitis, wrinkles, acne, rashes, falling hair and weak, splitting nails.

B1, known as thiamine, serves as a catalyst in carbohydrate metabolism and helps synthesize nerve-regulating substances. Deficiency can cause heart swelling, leg cramps, and muscular weakness. Rich food sources high in thiamine include liver, heart, and kidney meats, eggs, leafy green vegetables, nuts, legumes, berries, wheat germs, and enriched cereals. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is 1.5 mg. Some believe thiamine helps protect against alcoholism and that it is good for depression, stress, and anxiety. It is also said to improve mental ability and to help indigestion.

Most B-complex vitamins work together in synergy to provide a number of health benefits for the body. In general, they have been shown to enhance the nervous system and immune function, bolster metabolism, promote cell growth and division-including red blood cells which prevent anemia, and maintain healthy skin and muscle tone. They also work together to help combat stress, fatigue, depression, and cardiovascular disease.

The B-12 vitamin is of note because it is not available from plant products, making B-12 deficiency a concern for vegans. Manufacturers of plant-based foods will sometimes report B-12 content, leading to confusion about what sources yield B-12. The confusion arises because the standard US Pharmacopeia (USP) method for measuring the B-12 content does not measure the B-12 directly. Instead, it measures a bacterial response to the food.

Chemical variants of the B-12 vitamin found in plant sources are active for bacteria, but cannot be used by the human body. This same phenomenon can cause significant over-reporting of B-12 content in other types of foods as well.

The age of an individual will determine how much vitamin B complex they will take. There are several good benefits you can receive by taking vitamin B complex. Nervousness and pressure can be lessened if you take vitamin B complex. If you suffer from tiredness this can be reduced by taking vitamin B complex. In addition, a regular intake of vitamin B complex can help individuals recover sooner from sickness.

Importance Of Health & Safety At Work

The importance of health and safety at work cannot be overstated. The employer has both a moral and a legal obligation to ensure that his employees work in both a safe and healthy environment.

Morally no worker should be forced to work in an environment where his welfare is at risk. It also makes good business sense to ensure that workers are both safe and healthy during working hours. Sick or injured workers lead to a drop in production and a subsequent loss of profits.

Moral issues aside, there are strict laws and regulations governing health and safety at work, and should an employer transgress these requirements he could find himself being prosecuted and having to pay out large sums in compensation.

Good work practices effectively pay for themselves as production remains free from disruption, insurance costs are minimised, the workforce remains contented and customers are delighted with a regular and prompt supply of fulfilled orders.

In the United Kingdom the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) are in change of health and safety regulations in the workplace. The HSE not only enforce these regulations, but will also prosecute employers when they are contravened. While this is very necessary, it puts an enormous strain on employers whose first concern, quite naturally, is to run their businesses as efficiently as possible.

While the HSE produces plenty of information on the regulations, which are often updated, the typical busy employer or manager often has little time to read through them, let alone fully understand them. It is because of this that agencies have emerged that advise employers, managers and key employees just what the law demands and how to comply by keeping your work premises and practices as safe as possible. These agencies also run courses on various aspects of health and safety, many of which are certificated.

One of these courses is the IOSH Working Safely Certificate. This course meets the HSE's requirements as a safety certificate. It defines and identities risks and hazards and looks at ways of improving safety performance. The course also looks at safe systems of working, and considers personal responsibility for safety in the workplace, as well as the protection of staff in the working environment.

The fact that such courses exist emphasises the importance of health and safety at work in the modern world.
